Seriously? Install Problems!
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:33:02 AM »
All the posts in this forum are from 2010 and this problem STILL hasn't been fixed?  Your plugin took down my entire ad server - word of warning to anyone looking to buy this - don't.

After "install" all I get when trying to log in to my server is the attached screen.

Hi Albunch,
First sorry for your problems.

Actually the forum is dead because its not a RevMax issue and has been addressed here:
http://openxpayments.com/revmax-installation/common-upgrading-installing-errors/

In a redirect / loop situation if you look at your log files you will see what has happened in the background is that for one reason or another your server made a error and tried to redirect to the appropriate error page. It cant however because you haven’t configured your error pages.

What you will need to do is look at the logs, and see what the error was, and fix it. It is most likely one of two things.
1) no ioncube loaders installed
2) incorrect file / folder permissions

I would be happy to take a look if you use the contact with logins.
Mike

You most likely have other issues there.
RevMax in no way interacts with the delivery engine.

Further, as to level of sales versus complaints.
I find it curious you would come here posting such things.

Hey have you checked your install.log or your config file ?

The server needs to write to the config file on install.
It may have got munched somehow.....

Info looks good, but helps neither of us.

Sorry brain dead on this, when working blind. It usually dosent take over 10 minutes when on a server as I start with install.log, and config. Not sure why i didnt do that here.

If the /var/domain-name.config got munched it would error as you say I believe.

So you better understand the process.
The install simply uploads files and creates a few new tables.
It does not change any existing tables or files. The only real interaction with OpenX
is after a completed transaction. Then it simply adds data to tables.

Theres no real place in there for it to destroy your OpenX install.
If anything a error, after payment or when adding a publisher.

For anyone else, always start with /var/debug.log
if an install error it will be there. (hopefully)
Mike
got your email, you got mine several times now.

Oh The drama,
For any casual observers, here is the last email (s) that I received.

IonCube is the solution.  Neither of us, apparently, bothered to look at the outputted html code for advertisers.php - maybe you did, but I sure didn't - all I kept seeing was a blank page.  Once I hit view source in firefox, there was code there, just nothing that would display.  Here's the code (I just unloaded ioncube and looked at advertisers.php again):

I explained again, I did not have access to upload or change any file permissions nor could locate any log files to determine the error.

He replied.

I've already posted retractions and deleted posts where I could.  I was just calling it like I saw it and at the time, that's how I saw it.  I did appreciate you hanging in there though.
.....
Log files..what can I say?  They were probably empty because I kept re-installing.  I did make sure to mention in my retractions to anyone that purchased a copy to make sure they have IonCube loaded.

Above indicates he had other places / people to tell how bad the script/product was, when I had pointed out in first post the cause and solution, or to simply give me access to fix it.

Moral of the story: RevMax works, as designed and intended. If you wont accept help, don't bother coming here saying it dosent work, you will most likely be proven wrong, or that you would not allow me to fix it for you.

I stand behind it and will guarantee it works, if your server meets the basic requirements outlined on the sales / description page.
