I just want to Thank-You..

I thought you were going to be another slime bag trying to offload some overpriced script. I went to take a look...and to my surprise.. I was very impressed with your quality of service and your REASONABLE COST. You are offering a log in script that everybody is needing but you are even adding a few extra features than some of these slime-bag sites are trying to rape people for.

Not only that... you are even providing scripts and tips to common problems that everyone is having with OpenX and showing people how to fix them for free. I am sorry that you have to do OpenX's job.. but I just want you to know that I appreciate everything you have done and are doing..and will be glad to purchase from you...just as soon as I find a good host for it.

Okay well here's my disclaimer: (please forgive me as I know little about how everything works, but I have been reading everything and think I see the big picture now).

From looking at your scripts, when I try to log in to look at your advertiser demo it comes up in a different language, so I am not sure what, if any, metrics the advertiser or publisher gets. If your scripts do not include metrics I hope that you please consider it.

I have three suggestions/customizations I was curious about..

- I am not sure but it appears that we are dividing Publisher and Advertiser on account creation. Which is good for fast sign up but why not just create under one account so they can have the option to do both under one sign-up. Almost like a banner exchange (for the people who do both). This ties in to my next suggestion as well.

- To allow the administrator the option to reimburse Publishers with advertising credits (that are immediately available for use on another campaign) before just giving them the option to cash out. This would not only increase sales but would retain a higher percentage of the revenue generated as the publisher now turns into an advertiser and puts the funds back in allowing us a second, possibly even a 3rd or more times to collect another percentage of the funds, all free of merchant account fees as well.

- Lastly creating an 1-? tier level affiliate type program that would allow publishers and advertisers to earn % of revenue or flat advertising credits for other publishers, advertisers, and affiliates they bring in. After all the only way to make money in this business is to increase your ad serving network right? This could be a huge benefit to you!

Anyway that my 2 cents worth...Hope it was worth it for you.  :)

Kind Regards,
Jeff Johnson

Hello,
I edited a few words from your post.
As to language, I have a "friend" that likes to come by daily and reset the language for me so as to confuse new users that dont know this is a setting under "my account" and possible cost a me sale. I really have no feelings on this other than he/they spend more time at it than I do.

The metrics question, OpenX provides detailed and indebth stats. I dont feel as I could improve on that much. It is a learning curve, however if you install it  and poke a few buttons you might get a better understanding of it.

I had planed to have RevMax totally redone by now as it is usually a yearly occurance, however I recently bought what apeared at the time to be a house, but in reality is a money pit I should jhve torn down and started over with. This is keeping me extreemly busy as I have a new child due in june and would like to have someplace for it.

I have offered this domain and others for sale with all scripting and resale rights hoping someone else would take it up and devote to it as I have over the years. No offers are forthcomming so its a waiting game for when I get the time.

The last time I re wrote the scripts my idea was to have a new user enrolled as a "manager" and give them the ability to do everything, wich in turn would open the door for ad swaps, referral programs and the like, however OpenX built their own in named OpenX market and seemed to remove that posibility. It had me considering taking a earliear branch of OpenX and make my own "ad server" and take back all the controll they have taken since the big sell off.

When you become more familuar with OpenX you might come to the conclusion that RevMax is in direct competition with their products, so they dont make this easy by any measure.

For right now I support any I can that need OpenX help or cant get RevMax up and running, I would like to do more however there is just one of me and again I just dont have the time right now.

Big catch 22 really, I need to work here and promote this to pay for the house, but working on the house keeps me too busy.

Mike

Man I wish you would start your own Ad server. I was just discussing that last week after hearing some of the stories about OpenX. It's pretty bad when even their own site basically tells you to "back away from the free script"!

As you know, there is a lot of money in advertising and you certainly can't pick a better type of business than a digital subscription based service. You don't even have to wait till you earned enoug to retire...just to the level of where your income is sufficient will give almost total freedom in life ...as you could literally high tail it to Australia for the week and still take care of business if you needed.

Has OpenX made previous versions of their software that is now no longer compatible to their Ad Server?

Well thanks for the reply...Hope you change your mind about starting your ad-server, but I know what you are speaking of..it isn't easy when life happens.

Kind Regards,
Jeff Johnson

Yes it was phpadsnew then openads, and yes I have a plugin for both as I began with phpadsnew way back in the day. I believe the securuty issues were even fixed but everyone must have the shiny newest one even tho some like me feel the older ones to be best at keeping your business, your business.
The earliest use a lot smaller database, had instant stats, and a lighter load on server but no one seems to want it.
